Seeking Funds
Regional funding sources
Funding for early stage ideas could be for development, prototype building, IP protection, or market investigation. Funding may be available for your idea or businesses in your area, and a good way to find out if this is the case is to approach the Regional Development Agency (RDA) for your area of the UK. Contact details for various RDAs can be found on their websites along with other useful information. This web site has information on the RDAs operating in England. Welsh Development Agency functions are now carried out by the Welsh Assembly, and Scottish Enterprise is the agency for Scotland.
Funding for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
If your idea or business needs technological or expert input to progress it, forming a Knowledge Transfer Partnership might be a way forward. A KTP is an arrangement where grant funding can help a company and a higher education establishment to work together and benefit from the input of both parties. The company would need to add funds to the grant money obtained to progress the partnership.
More information can be found on the KTP website.
