Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities is the largest Faculty in the University, with over 860 academic staff, it is the equivalent to a medium-sized university in the UK.
Humanities is comprised of 8 schools: Arts Histories and Cultures, Business, Education, Environment and Development, Informatics, Languages Linguistics and Cultures, Law and Social Sciences, all of whom have an excellent track record of research and teaching.
The Faculty of Humanities has the biggest Business School in the UK, Manchester Business School, which is an internationally recognised leader in business related research and executive education and interventions. The Faculty also has some of the most prestigious research groups in the UK, in areas as diverse as accounting and anthropology.
The diversity and excellence of the Faculty's research activity and the opportunity to work within and across the disciplines enables superior offerings to partners in industry, in government and in the communities in the North West, in the UK and across the world. The strength of the interdisciplinary links between Arts, Social Sciences and Business and Management are already apparent, providing exciting opportunities for developing the Faculty of Humanities portfolio of commercial Intellectual Property. Our pipeline includes enterprises such as Robertson Cooper Ltd and Knowledge Support Systems.
