Engineering & Physical Sciences
The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) is comprised of nine schools: Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, and Physics and Astronomy. Many of the major advances of the 20th century began here and cutting-edge research generates funding of over ?48m per year.
The research activity encompasses the spectrum from 'blue sky' to truly applied in nature, and it is the research quality, the excellent links with industry, and the entrepreneurial qualities of it's staff that have lead to the development of a significant portfolio of Intellectual Property in the Faculty which is exploited via licensing or formation of spin-out companies. Our pipeline includes enterprises such as Transitive Technologies, Silistix, Perceptive Engineering Ltd and Smartlife Technology Ltd.
